
ROSIE HALPIN
Rosie Halpin graduated in 2023 from York University in Toronto with a BFA in the Dance Choreography Stream and currently attends Dalhousie University to finish her BSc in Physics, while teaching dance for IDA. She is based out of Halifax and Toronto and focuses her training primarily on Contemporary and Modern movement. Rosie was a competitive dancer for 7 years and has completed all of her CDTA dance examinations. Trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre, she is also an Acrobatic Arts Module 1 Certified Teacher.
Rosie was a member of the resident company, York Dance Ensemble under Susan Lee, for the 2023-2024 season. Her most recent performances and collaborations include The 2024 Island Fringe Festival for her choreographic solo work “mer rouge”, video dance project by Victoria Kuronen and Megan Medeiros “W2tURA", Bloom under DSA York, YDE’s annual showcase ReGeneration, and Dance Innovations at York. She won a Young Choreographer's Award in 2020 from Impact Dance Adjudicators for her Solo work "Soft Music", and was accepted into the Nostos Residency Program in 2021.
Rosie provides technical training and choreography for our competitive dance team and our Saturday non-competitive program. She loves being in the studio with our IDA dancers to reach goals and foster their love of dance. Rosie has been involved in managing our IDA Summer Day Camps for the past 4 years and is our Summer Day Camp Coordinator for 2025. She will be working at all summer camps, managing our day camp team, and is the main point of contact for families. Wonderful with children of all ages, she is excited to spend the year with some previous and new camper faces!
