LAUREL MACNEIL

Fostering Safe Spaces For Our Growing Artists

Laurel grew up in Saskatoon, SK where she began her dance career training in Vaganova and Cecchitti ballet, ADAPT jazz and tap. She began her teaching career at her home school. While attaining her BSc in Kinesiology, she began teaching at the University of Saskatchewan Dance School where she was introduced to hip hop. Upon completing her BSc, Laurel moved to Toronto and attained her MA in Dance from York University with her focus of study being on proper dance training techniques. She has ADAPT teaching qualifications for Jazz & Tap, and is Acrobatic Arts Module 1 teacher certified. Laurel also has her CDTA teaching qualifications for the stage division.

 

She has attended Dance Olympus, and volunteered with the World Dance Alliance and Little Pear Garden Collective. Laurel's name was also added to potential adjudicators for the Canada Council for the Arts. Continuously adding to her dance education, Laurel is active with the CDTA and organized the ADF from 2019-2021. 

 

Laurel oversees a functional rehabilitation program at a Physiotherapy Clinic. She has an amazing way with dancers of all ages, especially little ones. We are excited to have her share her talents, as part of our Illusion Dance Arts team!
